Jacqueline M. Skay Jacqueline Skay is Certified by the State Bar of California as a Specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law. Ms. Skay's practice involves the drafting of trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, and community property agreements; probating estates; establishing, administering and terminating conservatorships and guardianships; and administering trusts. Ms. Skay earned a juris doctor degree in 1990 and an LLM in Taxation in 2002, both from the University of San Diego School of Law. She graduated with honors with a bachelor of arts degree in political science and public administration from San Diego State University (1988). Admitted to practice before the courts of California, Ms. Skay is actively involved in the following professional organizations: State Bar of California, member: Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section; Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, sustaining member, Past Chairperson: Probate, Estate Planning, Trust and Tax Section, Board of Directors, 1994-1997, and member: Elder Law Section; Lawyers Club of San Diego, Past President - North County Chapter; San Diego County Bar Association; North Coastal Estate Planning Counsel; and North County Estate Planning Group. Ms. Skay has been chosen by the prestigious CEB (Continuing Education of the Bar - California) to teach continuing education classes to other estate planning attorneys. She also frequently writes and speaks publicly on the subject of estate planning. Ione was an attorney in Australia for 10 years before moving to San Diego. There she practiced business law, communications law, and Aboriginal land rights, as well as trusts. Ione earned her law degree from University of Sydney in 1984. She earned her Masters in Commercial Law from Australian National University in 1997. Upon moving to San Diego, she attended University of San Diego Law School where she earned her Masters in Comparative Law, Magna Cum Laude, in 2000. Ione joined the Law Offices of Jacqueline Skay in March 2002. Ione works with trustees in the administration of trusts after the trust settler becomes incompetent or passes away. Ione is a very compassionate person who is well suited to working with clients who have lost loved ones. Martha S. Kohl
Martha is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and spent over fifteen years working with the YMCA and social services agencies in the areas of child care and juvenile justice. In 1992, Martha attended the American Bar Association approved Lawyer's Assistant Program at the University of San Diego and was awarded a certificate of completion, with honors, in general litigation. Martha, or Marti as she is known around the office, has worked with Attorney Skay since February, 1993. Marti's primary areas of responsibility are assisting estate planning clients with the transfer of their assets into their trusts and the preparation of all documents for court filings in Probate, Conservatorships and Guardianship cases.
